What's your business, and who are your customers?

Holistic Bodyworks is a holistic healing center that provides many services. We offer massage, bodywork, energy healing, yoga, holistic lifestyle guidance, and other workshops that focus on healing the mind, body, and soul. Our team focuses on clients that are seeking a more holistic way of healing. All of the services that we offer work in a complementary way to help our clients feel healthier and stronger.

Tell us about yourself

At the age of 31, my health started to go downhill. After two surgeries and a couple of years of working hard to get my health back, I learned more about complementary and alternative ways to heal. I loved what I was learning, so I used the time to learn all I could. I pursued a BA in Complementary and Alternative Health from Ashford University. Went on to get certified in many forms of healing, such as Reiki and QHHT, and I also went to massage school to become a Licensed Massage Therapist.

With all that I have learned to heal myself, I was able to turn it into a business that focuses on healing people. I absolutely love what I do! My passion was to build a holistic healing center, and that is what I have done. And I have amazing employees that have the same vision.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would say my biggest accomplishment as a business owner would have to be that we not only survived the pandemic, we have thrived. We have continued to be there for our clients to provide them with a safe space to continue their healing. Many local businesses had to shut down, which is very sad. It is heartbreaking to have a community of fellow colleagues and healers that have had to shut down their businesses. I am just very thankful that we found a way to continue serving our community and providing much-needed services.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As a business owner, I have had to learn many different skills to succeed, such as accounting, payroll, tax filing, conflict management, marketing, and how to manage employees and contractors. All of the things that make up the business and make it successful... this is the hard part. But, I am all about learning and succeeding, so I have done a lot of classes, research, and self-learning how to do all these things that make up a business. One day I will have a manager who can run the show, but for now, I am happy to take on the tasks of being a business owner.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I am all about manifesting, so I would recommend it to those that are thinking of starting a business of their own. Have a clear vision of what you want to create, spend time in meditation, visualize and feel what you want to create, and then put in the time to make it happen. Creating your dream business takes time and effort, but it is worth it! Also, remember to spend time each week visualizing the end goal of your business.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

The last thing I would like to share is that you can't forget that it takes a village. I have found people who continue to work alongside me and have the same vision I do for the business. Life is about learning and growing individually, but we must not forget the importance of the people that are brought to us to work with. I am grateful for the tribe of people I get the privilege of working with. We at Holistic Bodyworks are a tribe of healers and guides that love to spread the love.
