Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Hillory Dahle, Founder of Hillory Dahle Coaching, located in Fruit Heights, UT, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a life design coach; I have two courses: one is called "5 Steps to Stillness," which helps people who struggle with anxiety, panic attacks, depression, stress, and poor sleep SO THAT they can live more deliberately and one that helps women figure out what their dream life looks and then I give them the exact steps to make their dream life their real life!

Tell us about yourself

I've been married to my favorite person Nate for 17 years, and we have 5 beautiful kids, 3 girls and 2 boys ranging from 5-15 years old. That was one of my first big dreams, to be married to someone I adored and admired and to have a big family. A few years after my 5th baby was born, I started to feel this tapping feeling like there was something more. I kept feeling that feeling, and I let it stay and grow. One day that feeling crystallized into words, and I said it out loud to my husband "I want to be a motivational speaker!" As soon as I said it out loud, I knew that it was part of my purpose, of how I wanted to lift others and contribute. Then I started the long process of creating a message I could share if I ever had the chance, and that message is what is now my course "Deliberately Design Your Life."

What motivates me to show up daily for this work is summed up by Abraham Maslow's quote, "What one can be, one must be." We live our happiest, fullest lives when we're moving towards uncovering and actualizing our unlimited potential. So I spent many months figuring out who I thought the best version of me looked like, then I tried to understand what daily habits needed to be in place to bring that best version of me to life.

Now I do the same 10 fundamentals every single day, so I don't have to rely on feeling motivated or excited about doing my dreams and goals, I just doing these things out of habit that takes me towards the bigger, better version of me and I teach others how to do the same. It fills me up to live like this☺️

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Becoming a motivational speaker and sharing these courses with thousands of women in a relatively short amount of time without any formal speaking degree, training, or certification. AND all while being a stay-at-home mom to my 5 kids🙌🏻

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Not making negative things or failures means something about my worth or my value.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. You're not behind; you shouldn't be further ahead. You're exactly where you should be!
  2. Make it fun. "This is all for fun" is a thought I borrowed and used all the time. There are a million ways to make money without starting your own business, so don't let making money be your motivation for growing a business. The pressure is a creativity killer. Ask yourself, "how could I make this fun?"
  3. Don't take advice from other people;) Your higher self, your inner voice, is the one you should listen to. Just like Ralph Waldo Emmerson said, "Trust thyself… none but he knows what that is which he can do, nor does he know until he has tried." You and I are unlimited in our potential to become, so trust that voice that encourages you forward and onward!! The world needs what you can give🤍
