What's your business, and who are your customers?

We're in the business of removing animals from the food supply chain. Everyone who consumes chicken dishes and is looking to cut down on their consumption is our customer. Currently, we sell our plant-based chicken products to restaurants in the Boston area. Our plant-based product can be used in any cuisine and in any dish which has minced chicken as an ingredient.

Tell us about yourself

I grew up in India in a family where my parents and grandparents all ran their own businesses. High Time Foods is my second startup, and my first was a ghost kitchen company in India that I exited in 2019. Hunger and Food insecurity are two problems that I care very deeply about, having seen them very closely. Knowing that what we are building would help solve these issues is what gets me up every morning.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Finding a great co-founder who I fully trust and can count on.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Entrepreneurship is like a wild roller coaster ride. The highs are amazing, and the lows are really low! Knowing that this is a marathon and that you have a Northstar around why you are doing this is the only way to survive this.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find someone to do this with. It takes a village to do this.
  2. Fail early, fail fast. Find the fastest and cheapest way to get to product sales/feedback and do it.
  3. Every day you should get up and think about what is the one thing I can do to de-risk my business and work on that.
