Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Miracle Olatunji, Creator of Her Wallet Media, located in Boston, MA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Her Wallet Media, is an educational and coaching service to help people build three key areas of their lives: their net worth, network, and self-worth. I create content, host workshops, give keynotes, and do 1:1 and group coaching. My target audience and customers are women ages 18-35, but I believe that these three areas are important for everyone to work on in order to reach their full potential. I also work with corporations, associations, and universities.

Tell us about yourself

I'm an entrepreneur, public speaker, and author of Purpose: How To Live and Lead with Impact. When I was in high school, my mom and I went to a workshop at our local library. The workshop was called "Women Empowered to Financially Thrive," and it helped me realize the importance of investing and financial wellness habits. I became very passionate about this topic and began helping others learn these important money skills too. When I got to college, I declared a major in Finance and also started working at my university's financial literacy center called Thrive. We hosted workshops on a variety of topics, such as credit, budgeting, student loans, investing, and more. A few months later, I started Her Wallet Media. I feel so fulfilled by helping other people lead more empowered lives and achieve their dreams.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The feedback from clients and feedback after the workshops I host: people started investing and working towards financial freedom, landing exciting internships and jobs, feeling inspired and more confident to go after their goals, and so much more.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Managing time, especially if you're also juggling school and other responsibilities. Some of my favorite resources for time management and productivity are: Google Calendar, Groove, Tomato Timer, and a travel-sized planner.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Invest in yourself. Read books, find mentors and practice self-care.
  2. Invest in building a social media presence. Create content, and connect with people from around the world.
  3. Build a community and a support system.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I'd like to share one of my favorite quotes. It's by Oprah. She says: the meaning of fearlessness "is to be afraid, and then, with your knees knocking and your heart racing, to step out anyway—even when that step makes sense to nobody but you." I 100% agree with this. I believe that being fearless means taking a chance on yourself. It's about being okay with starting fresh, putting yourself out there, and working towards your goals.
