Tell us all about your business...

At Membership Mastery we help membership site owners get 100 members and beyond.

What's your background and motivation to grow as a solopreneur?

I fell into this by pure chance, I was good at a skill and Betfair asked me to teach people. Then I built the worlds worst website and that was ten years ago. Then as it turns out, I am actually pretty good at marketing and I LOVE it.

Mrs Cox, the teacher who told me that my written English is exactly like I talk and how I don't have a career as a writer - If only she could see me now hey! What motivates me is that I have freedom to enjoy my life and spend time with my 6 month old Isla - cliche but she's my world!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Having the ability to take 6 weeks off when Isla was born to be with my baby and wife.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a solopreneur?

ME! I need to get out of my own way sometimes and trust the process.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

1) Plan what would success look like in 90 days time, stop thinking about the end goal and focus initially on 90 days - that becomes achievable and if you get there it will give you more motivation.

2) Read the book traction - Gino Wickman

3) Keep a google drive folder where you save screenshots of all the nice things people say about you :)

If there was one thing you could do repeatedly to help grow your business, what would it be?

Go on podcasts as a guest and give value.

What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance and to keep it all together?

Built a team, set bumpers around my time, I take Tuesday and Friday afternoons off ALWAYS no matter what.

Who are some of your favorite entrepreneurs? Do you have any must not miss business resources that you'd recommend?

James Schramko - Been around a long time learnt from the old school guys, Matt Wolfe & Joe Fier - just funny and educational content, Traction - Gino Wickman

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Always be curious, about everything in life!
