What's your business, and who are your customers?
Hello Danes is a small business with the purpose of educating large dog owners about Great Danes and other giant breed dogs! I started to get involved with large dogs when I got my first Dane in 2019. I realized quickly that owning a large dog is very different from owning a small dog, and there weren't many resources for people like me. So, I decided to start Hello Danes to help others learn about these amazing dogs! Since then, Hello Danes has not only been an outlet for me to share my love of dogs but also a way to connect with other large dog owners and help them learn about responsible ownership practices.

We want to help you learn everything you need to know about owning a big dog, from choosing the right dog for your family to proper nutrition and exercise. Staying motivated in a small business and working for yourself can be difficult, but there are a few key things that help me stay focused and excited about Hello Danes. First, I truly love Great Danes and other giant breed dogs and enjoy sharing my knowledge about them with others. Secondly, seeing the positive impact of Hello Danes on people's lives motivates me to keep going. Knowing that I am helping people learn about responsible dog ownership and providing them with the information they need to be successful dog owners is very rewarding.
If you're thinking about starting a small business, or if you already have one, my best advice is to follow your passion. Do something you truly care about and are excited to work on daily. It's also important to be realistic about the amount of time and energy you can realistically dedicate to your business. What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
When you are a small business owner, it is important to take notice of your accomplishments! Acknowledging your success can help you keep going, even on the hard days. Some success that Hello Danes has had is helping large dog owners feel more confident and informed about their dogs. I have also heard from Dane parents that they appreciate having a resource to turn to when they have questions or need advice. It's been so rewarding to see Hello Danes positively impact the lives of giant breed dog owners, and I'm excited to continue growing and reaching more people!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Sometimes, running and managing a business can be hard and has its handful of challenges. Hello Danes has faced challenges: staying motivated, budgeting, and time management. I think it is important to have a clear vision for your business and what you hope to achieve. This can help you stay focused and excited about your work, even on the tough days.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The top 3 tips that I would give someone who is hoping to run their own business are:
- Follow your passion- Do something that you truly care about and are excited to work on every day.
- Be realistic- Starting and running a small business is a lot of work, and setting realistic expectations for yourself is important.
