Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Heidi Dinning, founder of Heidi Dinning Certified Divorce Coaching & Family Solutions, located in Calgary, AB, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Supporting individuals holistically through all of the challenges that come when faced with divorce, to not feel alone, make healthy decisions, and ultimately see the light of a new life beyond the turmoil of divorce.
Tell us about yourself
Having gone through a tumultuous divorce myself and not knowing where to begin, feeling very alone and paralyzed by the trauma of it all, upon reflection, I built my business by trying to fill the gaps that I experienced through my own experience.
What motivates me each day is giving people hope. My clients feel better after we connect; they have clarity, they feel supported, and they have a plan. I am also motivated by the children whose parents I help to not put them in the middle and ensure that they are minimally impacted by the change.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Seeing my clients realize their full potential as an individual.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
You are responsible for everything! From being the CEO to being IT, it's all yours. That is incredibly motivating and exciting, but it also comes with the challenge that if you're not working, no one is!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find your WHY.
- Develop your target market or client. Nurture them.
- Believe in yourself and your product.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Developing a proprietary business from scratch is the most rewarding accomplishment, especially when you can see the positive impact you are making in people's lives is second to none. Our world is at a challenging time. Giving people hope, support, and learning to believe in themselves is something we all need.
