Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food service but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sara Black Charm, Owner of HealthEat, located in Efrat, Israel.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We feed you on a regular basis! Think of it as your own Private Chef delivering to your door! Your goal is our goal! Whether you just want to feel healthier, improve your diet, need help with a specific diet, just want to lose those stubborn extra pounds, whether you cannot consume gluten, or you just want to get that sugar level lower, we are here to help you get there!

We will start a Zoom conversation to get to know each other. As soon as we understand your needs, we get to it! We will work closely together and take an active part in creating a perfectly tailored menu for your health and dietary needs and goals.

We will build your weekly menus, keep a journal of what you are eating and how you are feeling, we will listen carefully to your feedback on how you liked our food, and together we will HealthEat your palate!

Tell us about yourself

My name is Sara Black Charm, and I am an experienced certified chef. Throughout most of my career as a chef, I traveled the world and provided private chef services to diplomats, celebrities, and families. Throughout, I became more and more involved in the area of healthy and adapted foods, which, as it turns out, is the direction the world of cooking is heading. For a while, this concept brewed in my head, and then came the COVID.

Like everyone else, I sat at home and decided that there was no better time than now to try out my idea. HealthEat was created! I hired Judy Kizer, our nutrition consultant, and we started building food plans for people according to their health and dietary needs to accommodate, feed and nourish them on a regular basis.

We started a small Facebook advertising campaign, and within three weeks, we reached full capacity (that was during lockdowns and me working from home)! I quickly understood that I was on to something! Since then, we have been growing, and five months ago, we moved from my home kitchen to a strictly kosher dairy and meat institutional kitchen in Efrat.

We currently provide regular meals adapted to meet individual needs and desires whether they have food allergies or sensitivities, a chronic health issue, or other health and nutrition goals.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Where we are now.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Believing in yourself and overcoming the fear.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know exactly what you want to provide and have a clear execution plan.
  2. Don't overspend until the concept is proven.
  3. Believe and love what you do.
