Tell us about yourself

My self-healing journey began 15 years ago after a broken engagement that led to the ending of my 7-year relationship. It was a traumatic experience that left me feeling empty, unloved, unappreciated, and hopeless. At that time, I was pursuing a career in counseling, so it inspired me to look deeper into my own relationship patterns and behaviors. After several failed attempts at relationships, I made the decision to seek support. I needed to get to the root cause and stop the pattern.

Mental health counseling and holistic healing helped me to uncover and resolve long-standing emotional wounds. I gained insight into how my feelings of unworthiness created a pattern of dating emotionally unavailable men. Life coaching allowed me to evolve and release past self-limiting beliefs that were enabling me to play small and not fulfill my life’s purpose.

Today, I am a life coach, empowerment speaker, licensed therapist, and the owner of a successful, thriving wellness practice, Healing Springs Wellness Center.

What keeps me going is the fact that I am creating an impact in my community, providing a safe haven for therapists to thrive and not feel burnout, and I am creating a legacy for my two-year-old son.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have always had an undeniable knowing that I wanted to become a leader and create an impact in my community. The vision started in 2011 while in grad school. A lot of people doubted that I could do it, but I had the confidence to fulfill my goals. Through the use of manifesting techniques and a lot of faith, I used visualizations, vision boards, and the law of attraction exercises to create a template of what I wanted my business to look like and who I wanted on my team.

The dream started to unfold in 2020. With the demand from mental health issues and the pandemic, I was ready to hire my first team member. She was a graduate school colleague who believed in me when I told others that I wanted my own wellness center.

I hired her in October 2020, and by March of 2021, we were a team of 10. After years of having a vision and taking strategic steps to reach my goal. My dream finally came true, and we have been growing ever since.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As a business owner, It always starts with convincing yourself that you're just going the extra mile to reach your goals, then it becomes wearing EVERY hat and playing every role in your business, and before you know it, you're exhausted by the very passion that used to fuel you. Without balance, it's so easy to become isolated and prioritize work over yourself and your loved ones. It does not have to be this way!

I have learned to master the art of work-life balance. One of the ways I measure success is by how often I get to relax, take naps, travel, and spend time with my family. We all experience burnout in different ways, but it CAN be prevented with the right systems in place.

Thankfully, I now enjoy a three-day work week, giving me enough time to connect to my spirituality and spend quality time with my loving husband and my beautiful 2-year-old son, Shawn.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a clear vision of what you want in your business. Be detailed as possible. For me manifesting has helped me to solidify my goals and dreams. I call manifesting-goal setting with a spiritual twist. Making everything you feel a reality based on your thoughts, actions, and beliefs.
  2. Adopt an abundance mindset; there are unlimited opportunities in business and life. You have to truly believe it. The benefits of having your own therapist or life coach can help you to resolve limiting beliefs and improve your confidence so you can go after what you want-your big goals and dreams!
  3. Hire a team that will support your vision and goals. Trying to do it yourself will lead to burnout. Having an expert team helps me to stay in my zone of genius and focus on the things that are necessary to grow the business.
