What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Hannah Elisabeth Beauty - An exclusively on-site team of luxury Hair & Makeup Artists servicing six states across the USA & available for travel nationwide. I started Hannah Elisabeth Beauty when I was 21 years old, living in Chicago and working as a professional hair and makeup artist. Through my passion and love for the industry, seven years later, we are now a Nationwide company with more than 40 Artists & Stylists who are able to do what they love (make people feel BEAUTIFUL & confident!) as a career.
Tell us about yourself
Although I grew up as a "tomboy," I fell in love with all things hair, makeup, and beauty in my early teen years and knew that it was the path I wanted to follow at a very young age. Our work is so much more than just getting women ready for special events, weddings, and photoshoots - It's about creating long-lasting relationships and empowering women to put their best foot forward. Because of this mindset, I believe that is one of the driving forces in the success of Hannah Elisabeth Beauty! People really remember how you make them feel.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Although I've been blessed with so much success in my own journey in the beauty industry, my biggest accomplishment is the opportunities that I am able to help my team reach as professional artists & stylists. Getting to experience their excitement when reaching new pinnacles, like getting to work with a dream client or travel to an amazing destination through their work, is truly indescribable. I believe that a true boss babe is defined by what they are able to help other women and people accomplish, more than just being concerned with their own success and accolades.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
As a business owner, the biggest challenge is that the worst thing that has ever happened to you is always the worst thing that's ever happened to you. As your business grows, every new level has new challenges that require you to level up and test your character. In the beginning, these can feel disastrous and life or death, but every challenge is a test - You have to prove to yourself that you can handle anything that comes your way.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Learn to trust yourself. Most business owners or people who aspire to start a business have a habit of getting in their own way. This is usually rooted in a lack of self-trust and confidence. You have to believe that your drive, passion, and purpose are enough to prove that anything is possible and that you can get through any challenges that may arise. Once you unlock that, you can never truly fail!
