Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Haley Twerdun, Founder of Haley Marie Wellness, located in Brossard, QC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm all about inspiring people to live healthier, well-rounded life. This means choosing quality relaxation products like my clean and sustainable soy wax candles and bath salts. My clients are parents with young children or those with mild skin or health irritations. I also teach well-being through individual mindful living and corporate programs. These skills reduce stress and anxiety both for employees and private individuals. Living life in the present moment means taking care of your mental, physical and spiritual health. I am also a Reiki Master, which helps calm your energy field. I treat children as young as 5 with chronic anxiety and adults. It has also proven helpful to my clients with chronic stress. As you can see, Wellness is not just about diet and exercise; It covers many solutions.

Tell us about yourself

I've always loved nature and living a healthy lifestyle. Still, after suffering burnout in the corporate world, I had to figure out what lesson is trying to teach me. It turns out that I was not living life for my well-being. I was living it for the company I worked for and other people around me. This is what we used to be taught in school. This is why so many young people suffer from stress and anxiety, and I want it to stop. We all have the means to make ourselves happy, but we don't consider that. We have the opportunity to live well, but society tells us not to. It's a western world problem. Live to work, not work to live.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being able to promote authentic products and services that I truly believe in.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Great question. As a small business owner, you wear many different hats. It all falls on your lap, from shipping logistics to marketing, even if it's not your forte.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Always be true to your brand. If you don't agree with something,
    then don't do it.
  2. Learn from your mistakes. They will help you grow.
  3. There is a solution to every problem.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?
