What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Guestio, and we help entrepreneurs, and small business owners get leads and increase brand awareness through content.
Tell us about yourself
I started working on my business because I was a podcaster who needed to continue leveling up my content and my guest schedule. I was filling my own need at the time. Now, we have pivoted to not just helping podcasters get guests but helping entrepreneurs become guests on podcasts so they can increase their brand awareness. I love the stories that we have heard from our customers and clients that have had success with us.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Selfishly, I’d say it was interviewing Shaquille O’Neal on my show. He was my childhood hero, so it was a pretty cool full-circle moment for me.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The uncertainty. Being a business owner is a commitment to living in uncertainty.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Commit to the process. It’s not going to happen overnight. If you think it will, you won’t make it past your first obstacle, which will inevitably come. Remember, most people underestimate what they can do in 10 years and overestimate what they can do in 1 year.
- Perfect your strengths and hire your weaknesses. Every one of us has a temptation to keep doing things we shouldn’t be doing because we want to save money or we don’t know anyone currently who can get the job done. Resist that temptation, or you’ll always just own a job.
- Start an interview podcast. Business is all about relationships, and the best way to create relationships with people in your space is to have a podcast that gives you an excuse to talk to them.
