Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Angela Taylor, CEO of Guardian Quest, Inc., located in Reno, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

At Guardian Quest, we offer world-class solutions in DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), leadership, team building, change management, and other areas of people development. We have served clients in every state in the Union, all United States Territories, and a few other countries. Our clients include those in the corporate, educational, military, and non-profit arenas.

Tell us about yourself

I am honored to have three collegiate degrees, the first of which is a bachelor's in Business Administration. Business has always been my path, whether in the public or private sector. I actually began with Guardian Quest as a team member before acquiring the company after seven years. I work in our business because my passion is to make leaders, organizations, teams, and people better. Making a difference is what drives me each day. I want it to matter that I was here because I was blessed to make a difference.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is my team. I am so blessed to have a talented, committed, and passionate group of people who share my desire to make a difference. They are why we've been able to acquire partnerships with Fortune 500 companies, global entities, and billion-dollar organizations.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I have found balancing work and life to always be a challenge. As an owner, I want to put 110% of myself into my company. That is a constant struggle as family and other commitments ebb and flow. But I'm never too far away from GQ - or my people.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My first tip would be to do something that you love, but make sure you are solving a problem. Loving what you do isn't enough if you don't offer something that will help another business or organization. My second tip would be to make sure you're really good at what you do. People count on us to be an expert at what we are offering. We need to truly be an expert. Thirdly (These are not necessarily in order), remember that you are here to serve. Period.
