Hello! I'm Lindsay with Grow Photography. A fun and heartfelt business located in the heart of the Canadian prairies, Winnipeg, MB. My work as a family photographer is all about capturing the joy and special connection of growing families. I specialize in creating vibrant, energetic images that truly showcase the unique personalities and connections of each and every family.
My clients are families who want to enjoy the special moments and milestones as their family grows. Whether it's a new baby, a birthday, or just a casual family update, I'm all about capturing the joy, energy, and connection that makes those moments so special. My goal is to give my clients high-quality, one-of-a-kind images that they'll treasure forever.
Tell us about yourself
My love of photography started in childhood when I received my first camera (film!) as a gift and started taking pictures of my own family and friends. I fell in love with the way a photograph can pause a moment in time and share a story. I've always believed that everyone has their own unique story to share, and I strive to create a fun and relaxed atmosphere during my photo sessions to help bring that story to life. The joy of capturing the special moments and connections of growing families is what makes me love my work! I started my business because I wanted to share that joy and passion with others. I wanted to help families capture their special moments and connections in a fun way that they can enjoy together for years to come.
Being based in the heart of the Canadian prairies, I have the opportunity to capture all the beauty and diversity of this city and its families. I love to take advantage of the natural light and beautiful parks that Winnipeg has to offer. I'm coming up on 20 years as a family photographer and am so grateful to do this amazing work!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I've had so many amazing moments as a family photographer and business owner, but if I had to pick just one, I would say that my biggest accomplishment has been seeing the reactions of my clients when they see their final images. Knowing that I've been able to capture their special moments and memories in a way that they'll treasure forever is such an incredible feeling! I've had so many clients tell me that their photographs have brought them to tears, and that makes all the hard work and dedication that goes into my business so worth it. There's nothing quite like the feeling of knowing that my work is making a real impact on people's lives!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Being a business owner is an amazing adventure, but it's not without its challenges! One of the hardest things for me as a family photographer is trying to balance the creative aspects of my work with the business and administrative side. It can be tough to switch gears from capturing beautiful images to maintaining multiple social media accounts, doing bookkeeping, and all the other tasks that come with running a business. But even with those challenges, I wouldn't have it any other way. I love being able to capture the joy and connection, creating beautiful memories that families will treasure forever. It makes it so fulfilling!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be true to yourself. Stay true and focus on developing your own voice and style.
- Connect with your clients. Build relationships. Get to know them and understand their needs. This will help you create images that truly reflect their unique story and connection.
- Have fun. Enjoy the process of capturing beautiful memories for your clients. Remember why you started doing this in the first place, and let that passion guide you through the highs and lows of running a business!
