Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in arts and crafts but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Gregory Chabolla, Co-Founder of Gregory's Special Creations, located in Liberty Hill, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a scroll saw artist - I make art out of premium hardwoods. My customers are anyone and any age. I make a wide range of art, from puzzles to one-kind pieces.

Tell us about yourself

I am an autistic adult that wanted to do something to make money and help support myself. I saw a piece of art and was very curious about how it was made and took lessons from an individual that lived in my neighborhood 10 years ago this coming July. I love making people smile and meeting new people at events where I sell my art.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is being able to work and make beautiful art and support my business 100% with my sales.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

It is a struggle every day being a business owner; my Mom and I are the only ones running my business; I do all the cutting; she preps the wood, patterns, and sands and stains every piece, packages, and promotes my business. There is a lot to do before we ever sell one piece.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  • First, have a lot of patience.
  • Second, work very hard every day.
  • Third, be very organized.
