What's your business, and who are your customers?

Green Envy Cosmetics creates handmade crystal, and Reiki infused aromatherapy products made with pure therapeutic-grade essential oils for people who care about the quality of the products that they're purchasing. One regular customer wrote this when asked why she chose Green Envy Cosmetics: "I chose your company because it just gave off authentic good vibes. I've never been disappointed by anything from your shop. I think it's the love of what you do, skill in crafting your products, your knowledge, and caring about the people who use your products that set you apart from the rest."

Tell us about yourself

My name is Marzena; I'm the owner, founder, and crafter at Green Envy Cosmetics. I'm a makeup artist and a skincare expert working in TV and the cosmetic industry for over a decade. I'm a single mom and a world traveler; I love to be around nature and the ocean. Living a healthy lifestyle is important to me. I love yoga, hiking, and long walks. Many years ago, when I examined the ingredients in beauty products, I was surprised to discover that most commercial brands contained chemicals that are toxic to our bodies as well as the environment. I wasn't convinced that we have to compromise our health to achieve beauty, and that's how Green Envy Cosmetics was born. Designing my products and packaging fulfills me creatively, but what I find most rewarding is getting to read feedback from customers who have been able to enhance their health, their lives, and their souls.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Shortly after opening my store on Etsy, my massage oil became a bestseller out of over 7000 other massage oils on Etsy worldwide. I'm also a "Star Seller" on Etsy, which means that I provide a great customer experience and consistently earn 5-star reviews.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing is figuring out how to do everything on your own. ( How would I finance it? What would the packaging look like, and where would I get it? How do you build a website? How does e-commerce work?) a lot to learn, and it can seem daunting at first; the only way to figure it out is to take that leap of faith and just do it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I'd say just go for it! Don't wait for the perfect moment, money, etc. Always go with your passion. Never ask yourself if it's realistic or not. If you really want something, all the universe will conspire to help you to achieve your dream.

Do what you love, something that matters. Something true to who you are. Something that means something.
