What's your business, and who are your customers?

Tell us about yourself
Before Green Boy, I ran a small gut microbiome start-up. It taught me a lot about the importance of our gut and the impact it has on our body and mental health. During that time, I was dealing with a lot of health issues and couldn't figure out what my body was reacting to. After testing negative for all the major allergens, I decided to cut out all unknown ingredients from my diet. Over time, I found the culprit, the ingredient "Natural Flavors." I still wanted to get protein in my diet, and that led me to sourcing a single-ingredient protein that worked well for my body. While doing research, I knew I wasn't alone in this issue and others would benefit from the protein I found. And it wasn't for long until we started seeing people's positive reactions to our clean protein powder. This feedback from our customers is one of the main motivators for me to keep doing what I do.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
As a business owner, nothing brings me greater satisfaction than witnessing people across the country utilizing our product and receiving positive feedback from strangers about how much they love our protein. It's a testament to the fact that we're able to help address the same issues that I have personally experienced, but on a much larger scale.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As a business owner, the most challenging aspect of my role is also the most enjoyable one: the chance to wear multiple hats. As you might expect, this responsibility is particularly daunting for a small business owner, as you must oversee every facet of the operation and continuously adjust and acquire new skills. Whether it pertains to logistics, operations, or marketing, you are confronted with a variety of challenges that require unique solutions to succeed and flourish in the current business landscape.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Patience. Patience is key in the world of business. It's important to recognize that timelines are constantly shifting, and you won't always have control over the speed at which things progress. Focus on what you can do, and be prepared to accept that some tasks will inevitably take longer than others.
- Team. No entrepreneur can achieve success alone. Building the right team is crucial, whether it's just one other person or a larger group of collaborators. Having a partner or colleague to share in the highs and lows of running a business is invaluable, and their input and assistance can prove essential in overcoming challenges and driving growth.
- Fun. It's easy for the demands of running a business to consume all of your time and attention. However, it's crucial to make time for leisure activities and to nurture relationships with friends and family. Make a conscious effort to disconnect and enjoy these moments, as they will help you maintain balance and perspective in both your personal and professional life.
