Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Troy Legrand, Director of Grand Therapeutic Services, located in Baltimore, MD, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are an outpatient clinic offering physical and occupational therapy to active adults.

Tell us about yourself

I am an occupational therapist by trade. In 2018, after working in various settings, I decided to open a facility that focused on healing instead of financial gain. The thing that motivates me to get up every day is knowing I am positively impacting the community I live in. No matter how small.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My employees love to create an environment in which patients find peace.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The balance between clinical thinking and a business mind state. I provide all I can for our patients and my staff and still make a profit.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be committed to learning. As a business owner, what you don't know can kill your business.
  2. Start a business with a vision more significant than yourself. Your business needs to serve people. The more you focus on them, the more success you will find.
  3. Trust in the process. Nothing worthwhile is easy. Be committed to seeing your vision come to pass.
