What's your business, and who are your customers?
For more than two decades, my company Gornphoto has provided professional actor and business headshots in New York City. Celebrities, comedians, actors, corporate leaders, real estate agents, health experts, bloggers, and others, are among our clients. Tell us about yourself
Over the past 20 years, I've redefined the art of headshot photography in NYC. My first-hand knowledge of the entertainment business and extensive experience in front and behind the camera sets me apart from the rest of NYC headshot photographers. I've developed a uniquely personal and innovative approach to photographing actors. As a professional actor myself, I am passionate about creating headshots for actors that will get them called in for auditions so they can live their dreams. I also love doing business and corporate headshots because I get to photograph mavericks, founders, and CEOs of multinational companies. I recently photographed Max Levchin, who founded PayPal and Affirm.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Work as an actor on For All Mankind on a Tuesday. Sign an autograph on Wednesday. And on Thursday, take my place behind the camera and do an amazing headshot for someone who has no idea who I am. Basically, allowing the actor and the photographer to live in harmony.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The discipline to get excited again when you top the goals you've set.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Get obsessed. Work non-stop. If you can't do it alone, get a partner.
