Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Gordon Tredgold, CEO of Leadership Principles Ltd, located in Miramar, Valencia, Spain.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My passion is helping good managers transition into good leaders, so my ideal clients are people who have been working in management positions for 3-5 years and are now ready to take that next step and become leaders that create inspired teams that deliver amazing results.

Tell us about yourself

I've worked for the last 30 years leading large transformation programs. Throughout that time, I have learned how to create great teams and inspire people to achieve results that they thought were beyond them. Once you can tap into the unfulfilled or unrealized potential within your teams and show them what they are truly capable of, their performance can skyrocket, motivating both them and me. There is nothing like seeing the look on the faces of your teams when they achieve results that exceed their own expectations.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

For me now, it's not about what I can accomplish but what I can help my clients accomplish; those are the real successes. I have helped clients triple their revenue, improve operational performance by 50-500%, and recently helped a coaching client land a job that boosted his first-year income by $1M.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me, the hardest thing is to focus on business growth, working on the business rather than in the business. I love what I do, and that's where I want to focus, but without working on growing the business then, I don't get the chance to do what I love.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Understand where your clients are going to come from. Have a clear process for both generating leads and converting them into customers, and continue to focus on improving your services. If you ant seel or don't know where your clients will come from, your business will have a very short lifespan.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Don't let anyone talk you out of following your dream. Usually, they only share their fears, and you don't want your dream to become the prisoner of someone else's doubts. Surround yourself with people who help you find solutions, not those who only highlight problems.
