Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Cindy Haxel, Owner of Golden Well Being Collective, located in Golden, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a Co-Work Wellness Center. Our customers are other wellness practitioners - acupuncture, massage, skincare, counseling, nutrition, reiki, etc.

Tell us about yourself

I started as an acupuncturist in 2007 and quickly gathered a group of practitioners to share space with me, growing from 3 shared treatment rooms to 5 and now to an entire building with eight treatment rooms and two lobbies.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Growing to 17 practitioners and purchasing our amazing building (a 100-year-old brick building that was slated to be torn down but was moved to its new forever home in 2014).

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Taking the leap to hire help with the things I don't have time for - I'm actually still, after 15 years, struggling with taking this leap!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a side gig for a while to serve as a safety net.
  2. Don't let slow weeks get you down; look at them as a nice break to catch up on things.
  3. Always be thinking about how you can stay in touch with your clients and keep yourself fresh in their minds.
