What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm a holistic health specialist and researcher, and I help individuals who suffer from chronic health conditions. My focus is on Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, and I help those with IBD gain as much freedom from their suffering as possible with the use of cutting-edge supplementation, nutrition, and lifestyle strategies.
Tell us about yourself
I've always been obsessed with research and figuring out how the body works. After I overcame my own chronic health condition (hypothyroidism), I had a good friend reach out to me to ask if I could potentially help him with his IBD (he was diagnosed with both Crohn's and U.C. and was in a VERY bad place). All medication had failed him except for one, which was about 70% effective for him, but he had to pay nearly $4,000 out of pocket every month for it! After digging deep into the literature for a few months, I pieced together my first plan for him based on all-natural supplements and diet, and within a month, he was in remission. He stayed in remission, besides minor flairs, for the next seven years. After that experience, I fell in love with helping those with chronic health conditions and went on to focus on doing just that. What motivates me every day is knowing that I am improving the lives of others with my work.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Honestly, I view my biggest accomplishments to be when I get testimonial videos or texts from those who have gone through one of my courses telling me how much it has changed their life.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
For me, the hardest thing about being a business owner is the marketing aspect. I don't enjoy it, and I'd rather be doing many other things for the business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure you open a business around what you LOVE. This is key, in my opinion. If your heart isn't in it, it will be a daily grind, and you'll get burnt out. The love for what you are doing is what will inspire you to keep pulling forward, even when it gets tough.
- Be personal, engage with people online, and allow people to like you for you. Authenticity is much more important than the right "sales tactics."
- Inspire your potential customers. Show them how you can help make their lives better. Don't just give them "information" but inspiration and motivation. Be their cheerleader.
