What's your business, and who are your customers?
Golden Cricket aims to dissolve the unfair cultural taboos about insect protein by creating more palatable products using crickets in a powdered form. We also emphasize this as a sustainable alternative protein source. Our customers or anyone who cares about their personal health and preserving the earth's resources. Active people, martial artists, rock climbers, athletes, you name it. We not only offer a delicious, nutritious product, but it is also saving tons of water.
Tell us about yourself
I have always been interested in health and sustainability and am a solopreneur. When I had the idea to make cricket protein bars, everything just made sense, and it seemed like a product the world needed. I had a clear vision of what needed to be done and how to do it, and I took action. What motivates me every day is being able to grow the business to a point where I can help my community and those around me and long-term end world hunger by helping to set up Cricket Farms in impoverished areas.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My business is so new that I am having a new biggest accomplishment almost every week. From creating a product from scratch and launching it to hitting new sales milestones, we just continue to grow and gain momentum.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Honestly, slow Internet and phone service. Communication is essential, and this really impedes my work.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Come up with a plan, run the numbers for the initial run, run additional numbers for larger runs, think of every single possible thing that can go wrong and how to deal with it, and don’t take advice from anyone less successful than you.
