Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Britney Douglass, Founder of Golden Bird Healing, located in Atlanta, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Golden Bird Healing is a natural holistic company with a vision of educating and healing people. Our customers are people who suffer from skin issues to digestive issues. People who are adamant about changing their current health status, ridding the body of disease, and those who love to support Black-Owned Businesses.

Tell us about yourself

I am a Georgia native (I grew up in Fayetteville, GA) and North Carolina A&T State University Alumnae. I started working on business after getting an infertility diagnosis that I did not want to accept. That has continued to push me, along with my customer's personal success through my products, to keep pushing every day. I have helped people with diabetes bring their A1C levels down, women who have experienced miscarriages have their rainbow babies, as well as helped heal joint and pain issues in the body. Every success story makes me ecstatic about creating products daily.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Opening my first storefront with my sister. It is a goal that we talked about and planned for 2 years. We just opened this summer, and I am looking forward to all of my growth and many events to help educate and heal people within my community.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

To me, lately, I would say patience and marketing. Patience because it takes time to develop a product along with a following. Sometimes you set goals that don't get met and have to adjust, which can be disheartening. Marketing is an ongoing learning lesson that sometimes overwhelms my team and me, and I, unfortunately, fall behind sometimes.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do your research and become as educated as you can on that business (always a learning process, though).
  2. Create a brand that you'll love working with daily (colors, slogan, theme).
  3. DON'T GIVE UP! sometimes, you're blessing is just a step away.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

As a master herbalist, I can create a food plan, tea, or products to cater to your health needs. So if you don't see something on the site for you, you can always reach out for a consultation.
