What's your business, and who are your customers?

We specialize in drive-thru COVID-19 testing, offering a much-needed service to a customer base that did not want to go through the waiting times and frustration of navigating the public health system. We offer a much more convenient way to get tested for COVID-19 with little to no wait time and an automated system for speedy and accurate results.

Tell us about yourself

When the pandemic hit, I quickly realized the shortage in COVID-19 tests here in Canada. Once we were able to procure products, my partner and I (Daniel Gurman) promptly mobilized to find the fastest and most efficient way to get people tested. We had brought in a few different nursing agencies to do mobile services.

When we realized that we could not meet the demand due to the logistics of sending nurses to people's homes, a light bulb went off, and we decided to centralize the operation and have people come to us! Finding the most convenient way for the customer to get tested was our top priority. Having them pre-register and drive up in a drive-thru format while not leaving their car was a winning formula.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of the biggest accomplishments for us has been being able to provide services across the country with multiple locations in Canada. Being able to make a difference in people's daily lives is very meaningful to us.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

In this particular business, predicting the market is the biggest challenge. Navigating Covid has been challenging; however, staying ahead of the current trend is not impossible. We are constantly raising the bar, being the first drive-thru testing centre in Canada, and our Teletest model started months before anyone else. Staying ahead of your competitors is imperative in any successful business. There have been companies that have tried to copy our successful model and have come up short.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Understand your market and solve a problem!
  2. Have a product or service that people don't only want, but NEED.
  3. You don't need to be the cheapest, but you need to be the best!
