#GoSoloStories: Teem Up

Hey, I'm Ambrose and I started Teem Up, in Manchester, UK.

Tell us all about your business...

Teem Up is a brand new social racing platform that connects runners to race against each other in realtime. Customer base is divided into several categories: Runners (Individuals), Running Clubs/Coaches, Race Directors/Organisers, Charities, Large companies etc...

What's your background and motivation to get into the solopreneur life?

Started life as a systems developer engineer for Sony and discovered that I had a passion for developing on mobile devices (PDAs back in the day) and gradually became a freelance mobile app developer and created a consultancy business to cope with the demand. I am not sure if I caught the entrepreneurial bug, more like stumbled into it! To this day, problem solving still brings me satisfaction and it's what motivates me to keep going.

As an entrepreneur, what does success ultimately mean to you?

Freedom and options: freedom to choose your next challenge, and have the options on how to tackle it.

If there was one thing you could do repeatedly day in day out to help grow your business then what would it be?

Think of yourself as the customer.

What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance and to keep it all together?

I am a keen runner, so will always try to squeeze in a run outdoors at some point in my work day. Exercise really works!

For anyone looking to start a business today, what would be the number one bit of advice you'd give them?

Believe in yourself.
