Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jed Epler, Founder of Gnosis Coffee Roasters, located in Lewisburg, PA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My company roasts and sells specialty coffee to wholesale and retail customers.

Tell us about yourself

I started in the coffee industry by managing a coffee shop. Years later, I learned how to roast and really fell in love with the craft of the process. My company’s goal is to introduce folks to the delicious natural and diverse flavors of single-origin coffees from around the world.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has been outgrowing my starter roaster and moving to a bigger and better one from Typhoon Roasters.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner, especially a young one like mine, is having to do everything! It makes for good variety, but it gets overwhelming sometimes.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you have a passion for what you will be doing.
  2. Make sure there is a market for what you are selling.
  3. Be prepared for the many unforeseen challenges in the beginning.
