Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Oleg Nikitenko, Director of Global Seafoods North America LLC, located in Bellevue, WA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We sell seafood and caviar to retail customers online.

Tell us about yourself

The first time we started selling online in 2000, we had only one sale and stopped doing anything until 2010; we came back to the idea of making seafood available for everyone. We thought we knew a lot about seafood, which was our biggest mistake. We moved into a new business ground - e-commerce and shall make a different approach.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I do not feel I have accomplished anything yet; it is still a big trip ahead of us.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

When you run a business, it is a fun job and a daily or weekly job, which you shall do, but it is nothing with relating with fun. It is hard sometime to push yourself.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. You have to be open to learning much more.
  2. Time, time, and again, you shall spend 7/24 on the business.
  3. Do not stop even when you are ready to give up.
