What's your business, and who are your customers?

Glass House Dance is a dance studio serving children 3-18 years old in Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Acro, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Modern/Contemporary.

Tell us about yourself

Larisa grew up dancing from a young age, received a Master's Degree in Choreography, and then dove right into the professional dance industry. Ryan fell into dancing later in life, and what started out as a hobby quickly turned into a career in the arts. Once they became pregnant with their first child, they decided to put down roots and open Glass House Dance.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our biggest accomplishment as business owners is growing such a large, diverse, and inclusive community of dancers and parents where kids can perfect their craft and achieve excellence in a healthy and supportive environment.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is when to give up control. You start a new business venturing by doing everything, but eventually, you will become a bottleneck when all business processes have to come through you. Find a rhythm to when you will relinquish control to employees and free yourself to work on your business rather than in your business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Learn! Always be a student of your business.
  2. Work! Always work hard for your customers and employees and outwork your competitors.
  3. Simple Policies! Have a few simple, fair policies and stick to them, no matter what.
