Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Giovana Bier, founder of My Cats And Me Profit Alignment Coaching, located in Aurora, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a mindset + Human Design Coach and Profit First Strategist. I support female and non-binary entrepreneurs to build a business that supports their lifestyle by focusing on their unique 3Ms: Mindset, Monetization, and Money Systems. I work with people in the most diverse industry, from travel agents to bespoke artists, designers, and coaches. The common point between all of them is they are here to challenge the status quo and really live out their purpose with joy, love, and abundance.

Tell us about yourself

I, like so many entrepreneurs, am a burn-out baby. I started my business with the desire to want to be different and no longer be subjected to corporate politics. Soon enough, I noticed I was building the same overworked-underpaid dynamics in my business. With minor shifts, I was able to reach the same income I had from corporate in 1 year while having more space to be me, to live my life fully, and to rest. I bring an array of backgrounds to the table when working with my clients: my immigrant experience, my accounting/finance background, and my spiritual practices to be able to do one thing. See my client as a unique being and unique business and find the systems that support them.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

So many it's easy to lean into the financial ones. I reached my corporate income in 12 months, surpassed it in 18 months, and made multiple six figures in 24 months. But I feel that the biggest flex is I was able to build a business that supports my lifestyle, where I can feel and be successful today. I have a good balancing act between rest, personal and professional development, and work that makes sense for my life. I only work with extraordinary individuals, and I feel so honored to be able to support them in building a business that does the same to them, with different strategies.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

It can be lonely. When we start our businesses, we are all starting to pave a unique path that no one has walked before - and that is scary. Learning how to connect with like-minded people and learning that courage is not the absence of fear, but doing things despite the fear can be life-changing.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Focus on what makes you different. What are the things that you're passionate about and gifted that no one is putting together?
  2. Release the comparison. You cannot compare your journey with others because they are not you, and you are not them. Remember that social media content is curated.
  3. Find your angle and collaborate with others. The best way to grow your business is to have a unique angle [that is memorable] and collaborate with others who service the same audience in different ways: you'll learn, get in front of new people, and, maybe, make a lifelong friend.
