Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Felix Bollen, Co-Founder of German Kraft Brewing Ltd, located in London, UK.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

German Kraft Brewery and our customers are all Londoners.

Tell us about yourself

I studied graphic design but always had a passion for craft beer. After doing internships in both industries, I realised how satisfying and gratifying it is to produce a physical product that I can see people enjoying in real life. We wanted to bring authentic, tank-fresh, proper German beer to the London craft beer scene, which was just overcrowded with IPAs and crazy beer styles. Making a 'kraft' beer that is accessible to everyone.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

To this day to hear from random people how tasty our beer is and keep seeing the regulars coming back. Also to be the fastest-growing craft beer business between 2018 and 2020.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Lately, it has been the HR aspect. As a growing business finding the right people to trust to do the job as we would personally do it. This also comes down to training and managing, which my business partners and I have learned by doing.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I would recommend finding a great core team to start with. Every one of us 4 co-owners has their area of expertise, and we all rely and respect each other's opinions.

I recommend finding a niche and staying true to your vision. Don't drift off and try to offer everything. Stick to one thing you do best and make sure the quality never decreases.

The last thing I recommend is to start a business in a field you are truly passionate about. You can't create a successful business with a product/ service that you aren't involved in already and have a deep knowledge that comes through passion.
