Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sonia Hunt, Founder and CEO of Gen X Group, located in San Francisco, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business help guide people to reach their full potential and achieve success and optimal well-being through my coaching programs, workshops, public speaking, and my #1 best-selling book called "NUT JOB."

Tell us about yourself

I've been a Chief Marketing Officer for 20 years, working on digital transformation for some of the hottest global brands, such as Apple, TiVo, Califia Farms, and LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. As I've always managed large teams, it became apparent that with the pressures of having to scale the business, many people were doing this by compromising their health and well-being, which counteracted any efforts they were putting in.

I've had my own personal health transformation and saw that we don't have health and well-being literacy in the United States. So, I created the Gen X Group to help guide people to be their best selves, reach their full potential, and achieve success and optimal well-being. Knowing that I'm changing lives by helping people to get healthy and live the lives they want is all the motivation that I need to keep going.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating my first product was a huge accomplishment. For me, that was creating a holistic healing program which was published in my book, and thereafter using that program to create a platform around coaching programs and workshops.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

When starting a new business, many people are solopreneurs and try to do everything at the same time by themselves. This can feel lonely like you're working 24/7, and stressful to find clients. Being aware of this and prioritizing your health and well-being will help you to reduce anxiety and stress and focus on the important tasks at hand.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Choose your top 3 revenue-generating items and focus only on those until you can bring on resources to help you.
  2. You don't need to be on every single social media platform. Find your target audience on 1-2 maximum platforms and then put your efforts there.
  3. Take time daily for self-care. Your health and well-being are the #1 priority, especially when you're starting and running your own business. Because you'll put in a big effort, you want to make sure that you are healthy physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually to take you through the long haul.
