What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a full-service makeup studio in Edmonton that offers all types of makeup services, from beauty, airbrush, character, special effects, and prosthetics.
Tell us about yourself
I have been in the industry for over 20 years working in theatre, film, fashion, and print, as well as teaching makeup for over ten years. I love the artistic aspect of the industry as well as the challenges of working with other talented artists.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Staying afloat during the challenges of COVID and having the supply chain issues after. It has been a challenge, but we are still making things work.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
You never get time off. You need to be available at all times because, as a small business owner, customers are less forgiving to you than they are to big corporations, it seems.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do your research on the challenges and the rewards.
- Be prepared to work hard.
- Be prepared to accept criticism.
