What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a produce and truck brokerage firm. We specialize in fresh potatoes and onions, and refrigerated freight.

Tell us about yourself

Garnand Marketing turned 50 last November. Over the years, we have worked with some of the finest foodservice companies in the country.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being in business 50 years and having some of the same employees for most of that time. Also, being one of the early promoters of the Foodservice side of the Produce industry.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Firing people and realizing people depend upon you for your leadership to take care of their families.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Have a good business plan. Be honest and work hard. have a strong financial advisor and attorney that can guide you through the start-up challenges.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Love what you do! Believe in yourself and your goals. Don't be afraid to make tough decisions that benefit the company more than they benefit you.
