What's your business, and who are your customers?
To business owners, our product is the design agency that provides creative solutions from logos to brochures, label design, social media graphics, and more because I love to design and share that passion with my clients.
Tell us about yourself
I was born with a pencil in my hand. I have loved to draw ever since I can remember. I started my business because designing for my clients and creating a polished, professional brand for their business, and watching them grow is something I love. My parents owned their own businesses for a long time. My dad was a mechanic, and my mother was a barber. I loved to watch them communicate with their customers, and they interacted like they were family. I always dreamt of having my own business like them. I was a late bloomer and started my business in my late 30s.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being in business full-time for myself for over 13 years is a big accomplishment.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I think one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is discipline. I think a lot of people have the misconception that being a business owner, owning your own business, you get to do whatever you want whenever you want. In fact, you have to be very disciplined, and start your day early and work until at least 5 o’clock.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Save as much money as you can when you have those really good months. Be prepared for the lows in your business. They will come, but you can survive.
- Have a good bookkeeper, they will send you your P&L report, and you can see how your business is doing every month.
- Start going to business network events. You’ll be surprised who you can meet there. I started my business over 13 years ago, and I got my first clients after going to business networking events.
