Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in beauty and cosmetics but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Diana Yusufov, Owner of GÄDIS Beauty, located in Milwaukee, WI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own GÄDIS Beauty Studio, which is an esthetics studio specializing in cosmetic tattooing. Our services range from Microblading, Lip Blushing, Facials, Lash Extensions, and all types of brow styling treatments. Our clients range from women in their early 20's to Glam-ma's looking to look and feel their best!

Tell us about yourself

Diana brings over a decade in the beauty industry, which began as a freelance makeup artist while pursuing her Bachelor's in Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. She has a strong passion for the art of brow shaping and enhancement, with a focus on how the brows accentuate and enhance a person's facial structure. In 2015, Diana graduated with her Esthetics License from the Aveda Institute of Beauty & Wellness, which sparked her desire to pursue a Microblading Certification and continue to study semi-permanent tattoo makeup such as eyebrow shading/powder brow techniques.

Known as Milwaukee's Brow Queen, Diana is a 4x certified PMU Artist trained in Microblading, Manual Shading & Machine Powder Brows, and tiny tattoos. Diana is known for her meticulous attention to detail and her ability to create beauty in or from any scenario. As such, she hosts Microblading Training on-site at Gadis and shares both in-person and digitally on all things brows and beauty business under The Browpreneur. Diana opened GÄDIS Brow + Beauty Studio with the goal of bringing together a team of talented artists and estheticians to focus on elevating each individual's beauty and confidence from the inside and out.

She is committed to the Milwaukee community and has big dreams for not only the scope of Gädis Beauty but for providing educational opportunities regarding the esthetics industry and creating charitable opportunities for those deserving.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Most recently took another risk of expanding my business and creating more opportunities for other women to work alongside me and truly change lives with what we do; it is beyond rewarding. With this success, we just announced the charitable arm of the GÄDIS Brand called 'GADIS Gives Back,' where we will work with women who have gone through challenges like cancer to offer our cosmetic tattooing services, focusing on areola restoration tattooing. This foundation will also work with the youth and help girls ages 12-18 years of age, teaching them about the trades and raising money for scholarship opportunities.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

In my opinion, the hardest thing is wearing all of the hats. As you grow and scale your business, it is crucial to outsource certain roles and focus on your own personal zone of genius. But at the same time, you want to make sure those people see you have a clear vision of your goals and aspirations. I've learned to hire slow and fire fast.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just start. Fear will hold you back from your dreams. Feel the fear and do it anyway.
  2. Write down your goals and DREAM BIG. Work on any limiting beliefs holding you back from your greatest potential. I also highly encourage hiring a coach to hold you accountable for your goals and focus on your mindset.
  3. Network and surround yourself with people doing better than you. Don't ever let someone who has not been in your shoes give you advice.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

As an entrepreneur, your personal development is a direct reflection of your success. Read self-development books. I love Audible and listening to entrepreneurs and books on psychology and human behavior. End of the day, we are all working with people, and it's crucial to understand human behavior and learn about sales and growing yourself and your business.
