Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Keydella Fuller, Founder of Fuller Health & Wellness, located in Jacksonville, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Fuller Health & Wellness, LLC is a health consulting company that utilizes functional medicine principles to help men and women get to the root cause of their chronic fatigue and gut symptoms, such as bloating, constipation, and poor digestion.

Tell us about yourself

I became a nurse in 2010 and a nurse practitioner in 2017. I have been in the field of cardiology for the past ten years. After helping thousands of patients, literally bringing some back from the brink of death, the one person closest to me that I needed to save, I had no idea how to help... my husband. Provider after provider had no idea why he was so chronically fatigued and struggled with ADD, anxiety, and depression. Meds worked for a little bit, but then one day, they just stopped helping. We were told, "your labs are normal" too often to count, and one provider even went on to say, "you're the pillar of health... on paper". And he was.. on paper.

However, that did not reflect reality. It did not reflect the fact that I had to wake up at 5 am to give him his stimulant medication so he could be awake and functioning at 6 am. It did not reflect the many time's enemas were needed just for him to have a bowel movement. It did not reflect the missed events and family outings due to depression and low energy. Finally, enough was enough! I decided that this was not how I wanted the rest of our life to be. I was sick and tired of his current condition as I saw no end in sight. Were we going to keep doing this for the rest of our life? You know, for better or worse and all.

So I decided to take matters into my own hands. No one else was able to help, so what did I have to lose? After multiple hours of research, I stumbled upon functional medicine, aka root cause medicine. This alternate way of looking at a patient and looking at a chronic illness that I had no idea existed since being in the medical field for over 12 years. I taught myself what I could, then finally sought training in the field.

It completely changed everything that I have been taught for the past 12 years since being in medicine. After helping my husband, myself, and my father and seeing the impact small changes can have on the body, it dawned on me…. There are many others out there, like my husband and my dad, who are struggling, and traditional/conventional medicine has failed to help them. Hope is given and then quickly taken back after failed interventions and procedures. Knowing what I know now and knowing how impactful it has been for my family and for the clients I have worked with keeps me going. I am one of the few asking WHY instead of just giving a pill for every symptom. I am giving back hope, and my clients actually get better. Nothing is more fulfilling.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Getting on social media! I never was on social media much for personal use, and once launching my virtual company, it became necessary if I wanted to grow my business. I used to be so nervous about posting videos and reels; now, I feel more at ease when I do this, and it allows me to share my message with others. It also allowed me to create and promote my very first ebook called Fatigue Elimination Method. 5 Easy Steps to Feeling Rejuvenated.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Finding the time to do all the things that need to be done is one of the most challenging things for an entrepreneur. There are no hard and fast deadlines and no one breathing down your neck to get your work done, so you need to hold yourself accountable… which can be hard to do for some. Some days I would just want to quit, and other days my motivation is off the charts.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find an accountability partner. This helps you to continue making progress.
  2. Just do it! Even when you think it's going to fail or turn out horrible or you don't like how your hair turned out in the video. It's not always about being motivated; it's about being consistent day in and day out.
  3. Give yourself grace. Some days are going to be more productive than others. I tell myself If I have completed at least one business task, I have worked on my business today. This task does not have to be earth-shattering. It could be as simple as sending an email, connecting and talking with a business partner, watching a webinar, or posting on social media. Count the small wins, and don't ever forget to celebrate them.
