Tell us about yourself

I have always enjoyed baking and cooking. Before opening my restaurant, I loved hosting. Feeding people makes me so happy. It was just a natural path for me to open a restaurant.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Surviving COVID is a big accomplishment. We were shut down the week after our one-year anniversary. We managed to adapt to the situation, and now we are proud to say that we have been fully booked months in advance since we reopened.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing is the long hours, the constant working, and the stress of making sure you stay successful. However, this is offset by the reward and pride that come with all that.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Ask for help. You'll find some people who don't like to share their knowledge. However, so many people out there want to impart their experience and will coach you. Remember that the first struggles are hard, there are tears and bouts of frustration, but it gets easier, you will find your way. Just stay open to suggestions and remain true to yourself.

Know your "Why": what is your purpose. A book written called "Find Your Why" by Simon Sinek has a great exercise. Read it, do it. If you have business partners, make them do it. And when you feel like you are in a slump or lost, go back and read your "Why."

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I've had many jobs; there is really nothing like having your own business. All the tears, late nights, and struggles are worth it as you see your goals being achieved.
