Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sasy Cacace, Director and Co-Founder of FRY Canada, located in Ottawa, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is FRY, a toolbox for First Responders’ mind-body wellness and resilience that compiles yoga- both passive (yin) and active (Yang) approach, meditation, breathwork, relaxation, positive affirmation, and neuroplasticity techniques. It is tailored specifically for First Responders by First Responders. And with FRY The App, the tools are available anytime, anywhere, 24/7, at a push of a button. Supporting FRY means having healthy First Responders when you need them.

Tell us about yourself

I was a Police detective, and I had no support at all for the emotional and mental difficulties that I had to face working in law enforcement. Thanks to my personal yoga and meditation practice, I was able to manage the emotional response to my duty and have a more objective awareness of the experiences I was living. When I left the Police Department, I started thinking about the way I could support First Responders. Hence the idea of FRY and FRY The App. The goal is to give support to First Responders anytime, anywhere, whenever they need it.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

FRY The App. It was created and developed during the COVID-19 restrictions with so many challenges. But I did it, and I am proud of it. The App is available on Google Play and Apple Store, and I am already thinking about how to better it. One of my mottos is, “you are perfect as you are, but there is always room for improvement.”

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Lacking financial support for business. FRY is completely self-funded, and this is another reason why I am proud of it

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Thinking ahead and forecasting all the needed steps to build up the business, working hard without losing the vision, and believing in yourself.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Stepping outside your comfort zone is a challenge as the unknown scare you. But once you do it, you discover new opportunities that make you feel alive and give purpose to your life. And If you try to help others with what you offer, the personal benefits you get are even more pleasurable and deep.
