What's your business, and who are your customers?

Hello everyone, My name is Sandeep Kumar, a freelance known as Frontend Developer Kumar and as you can guess from the name, it's all about front-end and UI. I'm working with WordPress and Shopify. I am experienced with HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, and JavaScript.

Tell us about yourself

Before my first job, I worked in 2 IT companies and got 3-4 years of experience, where I learned how to solve problems and communicate with clients. After that, I just thought about how I could start my freelance career and how I could become a freelancer. Then I started to do some research regarding that one and asked some of my colleagues. They told me that I could try freelancing websites, and I tried Upwork and Freelancer in 2019. I got my first job there. Everything was fine. I had 5-star ratings on my profile and did some jobs in a few months. Then one day, I received an email while I was on a call with my client. The email said that my profile was suspended due to security issues. At that time, I learned my lesson. Then I just read all T&C and started working again with a company and also started working on my connection skills and improved myself. Two years later, I created a new profile and started working as a full-time freelance. Now I am working with my first client and also worked on numerous jobs till then.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

So far, I haven't accomplished anything yet, but I want to help people around me who like to grow. Because in my city there are not many options regarding IT field. So I want to build an IT company so that I can give them an option.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

In my opinion, the hardest thing is to win the trust of clients while you are new in the field. Once you get clients' trust, the rest of things will be a bit easy.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get experience in the field you love.
  2. Take risk.
  3. Keep a backup like a second job or side business.
