Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Haley Halteman, founder of Free to Flourish, located in Louisville, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Free to Flourish is a holistic wellness service offering nutrition therapy consulting and private yoga instruction. My mission is to help empower you to take a step closer to the healthy, abundant life you were meant to live. I specialize in autoimmune, gut, and hormonal health.

Tell us about yourself

It's through my own health journey that I discovered my passion for nutrition and yoga. I've found that optimal health is achieved not by compartmentalizing and treating each symptom separately but rather by looking at the body as a whole and addressing the root cause. What motivates me each day is the ability to share what I know and help others find hope and healing.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is in the little client victories. I love seeing people regain their lives. One client, in particular, a 9-year-old boy, was told by his GI doctor he had chronic digestive dysfunction that was unable to be corrected. He spent the majority of his day in pain and tears. After a few months of working together, we discovered the root cause and were able to correct the issue. Today he is pain-free and thriving.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about being a business owner is dealing with fear and overwhelm. While some days you feel confident, there are always those times that make you question everything. That is when you have to go back to your "why."

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Follow your passion. Running a business is always going to be a challenge, but if you are passionate about what you are doing, it makes it all worth it.
  2. Focus on the day. It's easy to get overwhelmed when you think of everything you have to do between where you are and where you want to be. Instead, focus on one or two realistic things you can get done that day to move your business forward.
  3. Give yourself grace. Growing a business takes time and a whole bunch of stumbles.
