What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is called Accent Reduction Coaching, and I coach professionals and artists on how to practice, pronounce, and communicate English in the North American accent with clarity and confidence.

Tell us about yourself

I have been a professional actor and voice/over artist for the past 25 years, and my passion has always been to reach people through the power of the spoken word. It is a privilege to convey the skills necessary to produce an excellent North American dialect in order to inspire my clients to create their desired results in communicating clearly and effectively and to witness their confidence grow as they acquire their new language skills.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is to witness my clients gain confidence as they neutralize their native accents and have greater effectiveness in their daily interactions, which can also lead to better career opportunities. Many of my clients have gained promotions, booked gigs, and increased sales.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The responsibility of constantly marketing and networking your business to attract the proper clients who can benefit from my services.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Gain a great understanding of what is most important to your potential clients from their perspective.
  2. Create a great website that reflects who you are and how your services can benefit clients. Be sure to include testimonials and to search engine optimize your website on Google.
  3. Build a relationship marketing strategy with other professionals you know, and market your services in front of their audience.
