Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Francesco Gioeli, Founder of Francesco Gioeli Yoga, located in Los Gatos, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I run my own yoga business that encapsulates movement, breathwork, meditation, and wellness. I believe in human optimization to the highest degree. Specifically, I teach alignment-based Hatha, which puts a drastic emphasis on correct posture positioning to maximize the results you receive from asana. The benefits of Hatha yoga are innumerable but include better emotional wellbeing, natural detoxification, sustained energy and focus, improved joint mobility, increased core strength, and a healthier longer life. Yoga is for everyone. My clients have ranged from babies all the way to seniors. I teach in person and remotely.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a California native who loves the great outdoors, self-improvement, and personal wellbeing. My life has consistently shown me the pros of living well. I've always loved taking care of myself so that I can perform my regular life responsibilities even better. I went to college in San Diego, where I got hooked on performing yoga classes cliffside at the beach. While I was working my regular career, I met my yoga teacher, who magically appeared out of nowhere, and I couldn't say no to her teacher training course. Over one entire year, we deep dove holistically into yoga, which included philosophy, history, ancient texts, poses, Ayurveda, breath, and more. When I graduated from her course, the benefits were flowing so strongly that it felt wrong not to teach others how to feel the same way. I teach to show others that their lives can be better, more relaxed, less stressed, and aligned with their dreams.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In 2018 I was given the opportunity to take my practice overseas. I lived and taught at a spiritual retreat center in Australia for three months. During that time, I personally witnessed an incredible transformation in my students that yielded lasting results. As a yoga teacher, watching a new student go from clueless to strong & poised is one of the most rewarding feelings. Every week I would lead an ocean class just like I took when I was in college.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

You have to be organized, maintain a plan, and develop a trajectory for yourself. You must be meticulous in your details. Do things now so that your future self will thank you. Don't be lazy or procrastinate.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Believe in yourself because you can do it. Ask for help because no one has run and scaled a business successfully all by themselves. Always have multiple backup plans.
