What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am in the CARE business, and I specialize in SKIN. My clients are people that are committed and want to make changes in their lives thru bespoke skin treatment in a private, referral-based environment.

Tell us about yourself

I was licensed in 1991 and have had a love, innate intuitiveness, and genuine curiosity about the miraculous processes of the skin and how to make it the best it can be. I'm blessed daily to love what I do. To see and experience the changes in my client's skin is pretty awesome, and when I wake up to texts from clients going on about the changes and how happy they are, well, it moves me. It makes me want to be better and do better for them every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was to create a few products of my own with an organic lab.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I think today, one of the hardest things about being a business owner is staying true to yourself and what gifts you have to offer your clients. Social media is huge today. Over the last few years, I've chosen to change my business model in so many ways, and staying out of social media is one. Working alone, which I haven't done in over a decade, is another. COVID changed a lot of things for me, but it also gave me such gratitude and showed a spotlight on my work, who I see, and staying true to my professional integrity.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Three things I'd advise anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today? First, find a mentor. Someone who you admire, respect, and can ask anything. They may be in the same business, but they may not. But someone you can reach out to and who is there for you. I remember having questions about starting up when I went out on my own so many years ago and the person I was referred to just blew me off. Find your person that's helpful to you. Second, figure out what you're good at and stick to that. I'm asked all the time to do a service I don't typically do, like tweezing eyebrows. Can I do it, yes, to get you to your next appointment with your brow person. Do I specialize in that? Absolutely not. In this town, we have specialists for everything, and I love that! Figure out what you want to specialize in or what makes you special or stand apart from others and stay in that lane. Lastly, don't be afraid to ask for help. There are people that care about you and your success. Lean on them. You'd be surprised how happy they are to help.
