What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an author, and I create templates for others to use to help them format their books to self-publish.
Tell us about yourself
I am Antoinette Taft, and I have worked with and on behalf of children for over 30 years in parenting, advocacy, fostering, volunteering, and adopting. I am the mother of 5 amazing, neurotypical, and neurodivergent children, biological and adopted. My five wonderful children are of various Black, White, and Multi-Cultural backgrounds. As a foster parent, I have firsthand knowledge of the foster care system and the needs of foster children. I have cared for almost 40 children in my home. I strongly advocate for foster children and work to ensure they have the love and support they need to thrive. Starting in high school with being a camp counselor, vice president of my Little League, licensed foster parent, and Board Member of the Advocacy Group.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment has been helping others become foster parents and adopt children who needed a home.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Reaching my audience to get my message out.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Every step, even small steps going forward, is progress. Don't give up if you don't see progress; don't be afraid to pivot in your business.
