What's your business, and who are your customers?
Fortify Fitness offers gym membership and fitness training. My clients are corporate and business professionals.
Tell us about yourself
I was an athlete in high school and college. I had some injuries which led to rehab for fitness and to a better understanding of the human body. I started my personal training career in Los Angeles and have been doing it for 25 years.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Securing location at a highly sought-after corporate incubator site. We cater to the tenants of the building and the local community as well.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Making time for the things that you don't love - such as administration, marketing, and promotion, while maintaining the activities that you do love - such as working directly with clients and my personal fitness program.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Identify the skills that you are best at and how you can help others with those skills.
- Identify the skills that you are not good at and find help from someone who is.
- Always remember how and why you got into the business and find staff to duplicate and scale your efforts. Don't try to do it all yourself!
