Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dylan Lundstrom, co-founder of Folksy Hard Kombucha, located in Mill Valley, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are Folksy Hard Kombucha and based in SF Bay Area. Folksy will be one year in June and has gained excellent traction in the local communities. Our customers are active, health-conscious individuals who enjoy hiking, surfing, cycling, and other activities our local area provides! Folksy is brewed to a breezy 5%, allowing you to "Feel good today, tomorrow too."

Tell us about yourself

My name is Dylan, a co-founder of Folksy. I started Folksy with my wife, Anna. She is a marketing whiz and has put together everything from branding to the voice of Folksy. I have a master's in winemaking and studied in France. Folksy started to make a hard kombucha with less residual sweetness than other hard kombuchas on the market. Folksy has 0g of sugar and just 100 calories per can. Feedback on the product and the community that has grown around the business makes working on the business exciting!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Launching a business during a pandemic was difficult -- there were a lot of setbacks and delays. Continuing to persist and get products to the shelf has been a major hurdle. Persistence.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Flexibility and inflation.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Get strong experience doing whatever it is you are interested in doing. There is never a perfect time to jump. Take your shot with the smallest opportunity and see what comes of it. Singleness of purpose will always lead somewhere, so just keep smacking the nail on the head!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?
