Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kimberly Sheahan CMS-CHt, Founder of Focused Healing with Kim, LLC, located in Lakewood, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am in the business of transformation. When women business owners hit that point of enough is enough with the struggle and stress in their lives, I help them create ongoing ease in their day-to-day lives while rebuilding trust in their decisions by harnessing the power of their subconscious minds. Through a unique blend of hypnotherapy and coaching, my clients release their trauma and destructive patterns so they can achieve their highest potential and transform into the best version of themselves.

Common struggles my clients deal with:

  • Need to hire help stuck on how to do it.
  • Know they need to do more and get out there but feel resistant to doing it.
  • Have big opportunities but are afraid they're not going to show up how they want.
  • They are pitching for 2nd or 3rd round of investment and not feeling confident they'll get it.
  • Can't sleep at night because they're wondering if they did enough that day.
  • Hardly get to see their family because they spend all their time working in their business.
  • They know they're doing the right things for them, but everyone around them is naysaying and telling them they're doing it wrong.

Tell us about yourself

What would you do if you developed an illness that the doctors couldn't help and just gave up on? When the doctors ruled out tumors for me, there wasn't much else they could do for my chronic debilitating illness, vestibular migraines. I went searching for anything that would help and found my way to hypnotherapy. After learning that unresolved emotional trauma can cause physical disease, I began healing and processing my emotional trauma from my life. This allowed me to access the natural healing intelligence within my body, and I was able to heal my physical body as well. Now I no longer suffer from this disease and live a rich, full life that I thought was lost to me forever.

I was in the middle of a career crisis when I got sick. Working ten years in one industry and now wanting a way out. To find something that lit me up instead of crushing my soul every day. I felt a calling to learn hypnotherapy and to show others how to heal and find that inner peace with themselves. Now my days are filled with helping people find their ways to self-love and acceptance. And seeing them grow and accomplish astounding things once they begin to believe in themselves.

When I'm not helping people transform into the best version of themselves, you can find me hiking, skiing, or rock climbing in Colorado, things I thought I'd never do again when I got sick. And when I'm exhausted from those activities, I curl up with a good book or a fun tv show.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Stepping fully into my business. I worked part-time in my old industry for several years while getting my business off the ground. I found that continuing to work in the field I hated was keeping me from succeeding in my business. Once I fully released my old work, everything fell into place, and I created a successful Hypnotherapy and Coaching practice.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Knowing how to separate your time between working ON the business and working IN the business. When you go from being an employee with a defined role to being a solopreneur, you have to learn how to do every role or hire out what you can't do. One of the best coaches I had helped me learn to be the CEO of my business and not just an employee.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Invest in yourself; get the coach who has succeeded and done the things you want to do. You'll save a ton of time, effort, and money. Skip the coaches that haven't achieved the things you want to. If they can't do it themselves, they can't teach you.
  2. Read and do the practices in You Are A Badass At Making Money by Jen Sincero.
  3. Be open to learning, and don't get stuck thinking there is only one right way. There is only one. You and the world needs you to share your gifts with it.
