What's your business, and who are your customers?
Florilège Jardinerie Urbaine is a trendy European style florist and a small garden center in the Saint-Henri district. We are two businesswomen who work with passion. Florilège is a neighborhood business that is accessible and attentive to our customers. Customers are mostly women between 25 and 45 years old. They are passionate about plants and seasonal, local flowers. They also follow the trend on social media.
Tell us about yourself
We always wanted to work for ourselves and therefore open a plant, flowers shop. Our dream came true in October 2019 when Marion and I opened the doors of our boutique. The vegetal world is for us a passion; we can say that we are not working; we live from our passion.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Our biggest accomplishment is still being open after the pandemic; who knows what else can happen now? We are stronger than ever and better prepared to get through the years to come.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Family work conciliation is one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner. We were really lucky to be two to run the shop. Our children are rarely sick at the same time, lol.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Surround yourself with good people.
- Keep learning.
- Anything can happen, one step at a time.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
We don't know how long the adventure will last, we do our best, and we learn from our mistakes. Our new dream is maybe to have more Florilege around the world.
