Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jadeverett Mayhorn, Founder of Fiyah Azz Socks, located in Houston, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have two businesses. The first business is a spiritual and business development consulting company and a sock company. My customers are spiritual entrepreneurs and creative business owners with a mission and message of love and unity to uplift the universal consciousness.

Tell us about yourself

What first got me started working on my business was actually seeing my family's involvement with network marketing and nonprofit organization work. We've been doing network marketing business since 2009, and nonprofit organization work my whole life, so hanging around entrepreneurs and hearing their stories, I was able to see the potential for myself as a business owner. I studied and graduated with a chemical engineering degree from Prairie View A&M University and worked as a process and equipment engineer for Texas Instruments, yes, the ones that make the calculators.

While working in corporate America, I worked in different network marketing businesses, from selling health and wellness products to selling life insurance and recruiting partners. In 2013, while I was a senior in college on an internship, I had my first spiritual awakening after watching a few documentaries that encouraged me to start questioning all the things I've been taught, from religion, the banking system, and government, to myself, so I took the journey to really go and find the "truth." So fast forward five years, as I was working in different network marketing businesses and working as an engineer, I felt like I was selling my soul just to make money to live. I was making good money, but that was such an empty feeling. So one day, I decided to commit to my entrepreneurial and spiritual path and quit my job to figure out what I was really on earth to do.

I started writing out my goals and things that were helping me to find inner peace along my spiritual journey, and then I started sharing those tips on social media in 2019. Those tips I was tweeting multiple times a day ended up turning into books that I was able to sell to my audience, so that sparked my journey as a spiritual life coach, and that's how my spiritual and business development company was born. Then I started trying to figure out what else I could create and sell to help uplift the universal consciousness, so I started thinking about what else I was passionate about, and then I remembered I love and had a passion for cool socks. I already had bought so many different types of socks throughout my college and working career that I decided that's the path for me, so that's how Fiyah Azz Socks was created.

What motivates me each day to do what I do is that I've been blessed with a divine vision and message that I would like to share with the world with the goal of uplifting the universal consciousness of people to treat themselves, each other, and the world better. I see how much negativity, hatred, mistrust, and abuse is going on in the world between people, and it's causing so much harm to everyone and everything. I just want to contribute love and a message of inner peace to help change the world for the better. A big mission. And I am working on myself to be the change I want to see in the world so that discipline is enough to keep me motivated to keep pushing forward each day, and I hope I can be a light for others to do the same.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is the network I'm building of spiritual entrepreneurs, creative business owners, and nonprofit organizations across the world. It's fulfilling to have a tribe of people on a similar mission to uplift the universal consciousness of people through love, compassion, and divine purpose.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Business is an ever-evolving industry. There are so many changes and pivots that come along the way, and you have to be able to adjust to the tides. I would say the hardest thing about being a business owner is constantly having to change and evolve your way of thinking and being as you continue to grow as an entrepreneur. It's a choice you have to make daily, and it's not always fun, but it's fulfilling living in your purpose. Business is a spiritual journey for me, so it's a path I choose to take to get to know myself and evolve as I grow and help other people with my mission.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Read books and consume knowledge about spirituality, entrepreneurship, and investing (in yourself and other businesses).
  2. Pick a problem you see in the world that you are passionate about and that you can commit to and contribute a solution for.
  3. Learn about marketing and how to sell, especially in the digital world. You are the creator, so you must be able to articulate your ideas and sell them to your audience. That's the only way a business will grow by committing to your business journey, networking with like-minded individuals, sales, and marketing.
